The number one question I get from clients as a photographer in Northern Utah is if I have any location suggestions for their family, engagement or senior photoshoot. Luckily for them (and you!), I've been doing photography sessions for long enough now, that I've been able to find some hidden gems throughout the Davis county area. Below you will find a list of my favorite locations. If you don't see anything that you love, reach out! These are just a few of the many places that I know of!
Weber River Trail
This may be my favorite location as it has so much to offer! There is a great paved trail that runs next to the river with large trees surrounding it. There is a cute little fence and lots of logs to sit on. And the light here just can't be beat!
Antelope Island
If you are dreaming of an ocean-side photoshoot for your family, but live in landlocked Utah, Antelope Island may be the answer! While swimming in the water may not be pleasant, it makes for a beautiful, beach-like backdrop for your family photo session. With its beautiful rock structures and gorgeous light at sunset, this is one of my top requested locations! The bugs can be bad, so if you choose here, I do recommend bug spray.
Lagoon Trail
Despite hearing the screams of people riding the roller coasters at Lagoon, this location is a favorite. A heavily wooded walking path creates beautiful, rich tones. There are benches, some tall grasses, and bridges that everyone loves.
Trapper's Loop
If you are looking for sprawling mountain backdrops, this may be the place for you. With it's tall grass and mountain views, this is a very popular location-meaning plan on us having to work around other photography groups! There is a reason it is popular, though, as you can't get much better views than this.
Snowbasin Area
If you love the mountain look, but want to be more in the mountains, this area near Snowbasin cannot be beat. In the spring it is covered in wildflowers, and in the fall the leaves show of their colors better than anywhere else. The terrain can be a little rocky in this area, so take that into account.
Jensen Nature Park
The bridge at this park may be the most photographed bridge in all of Davis County! But for good reason! It is the perfect spot for photos. Along with the bridge, there are trees, tall grasses (depending on the time of the year) and fences. This is a very popular location!
Shoreland Preserves
This spot gives you that mountain silhouette that Utah is known for, but not the "in the woods" look. It has a wooden boardwalk and tall grasses all year.
